Soulographer.com Giveaway!!

So as I am scanning Facebook, like many of us do everyday (including my parents now, yikes!), I came across some new Pages to like. I'll go into detail later in the blog on the two new pages I like but for now I'll skip to the chase since many of us (myself included) can have very small attention spans. The website Soulographer.com is giving away many great prizes and I REALLY would love the posing guide, The Workshop Workbook which I would absolutely love to get since I cannot afford it, Florabella Collection, or Kelly Rigdell Logo see all prizes here. This is just really cool. I love that all these different vendors got together and are giving away products. I mean it is a smart way in terms of marketing to get people to look at your products who probably wouldn't have looked at otherwise but I just love when people give back to others. When you break it down it's really people helping people. Well let's just all keep our fingers crossed that I will be blessed enough to win ANY prize, but if we have to hope for anything let's hope for the Workshop Workbook!!

So about the websites that I have become great fans of:

The first one is Florabella Collections. They sell actions, elements, and just about anything you would need to make your images get to that next level! They have one of the prizes and probably everyone hoping they win it!

The second being the page Work of Heart Photography. This is a photographer named Skye Hardwick-Edmonds from California in the Los Angeles area. Well now that I have her bio out of the way let me rave a bit... She has some a wonderful way of creating a child's portrait and making it not only a photograph a parent would want but also an art piece. The color palettes she uses, the retouching on the images, the expressions, everything is just spot on. She not only creates beautiful portraits but amazing works of art. Let's just say if there was a Vogue:Children her images would grace the pages. Okay enough, you all are going to think I'm a brown noser...

Well check out their websites and give them a Like on Facebook if you feel the same way.

Website Woes.....

Who knew that having a full time job, taking photographs on the side for my own work/editing these photographs, and trying to get a new website up would be so troublesome?

Anyway I am currently working on trying to get a new website since my college website is not only out dated and has old portfolio work but also a bit gloomy. For any artist out there looking for an easy way to get a new site I highly recommend this site:

Family Traditions

Here are some images I took of my Dad at his father's farm. Not too many portraits, which I usually like to do, mainly photographs of him working and details of the farm.

Fair/Funnel Cake Booth Photographs from the Summer

Here are some of the images of some friends and I when we went to local fairs. Also, images from a funnel cake booth one of my friends works at with his parents. I really started to fall in love with not only the beautiful colors that are always present at carnivals but with the abstract lighting in the background of portrait photographs I took.

Time to up my game

So aparrently I'm awful at this blogging thing. It's the same as when I was younger and every year I would beg my mom to buy me a journal and then I would keep up with it for approximately two weeks to only have the journal turn into my doodle book, filled with quotes, kindergarten-like drawings, and poems that are just about the worst thing anyone could come up with.

Not that I need to have an excuse for why I have not been keeping up with said blog but it was the busy season at my full time job and working over 50 hours a week doesn't really lit a fire under me it just makes me crash and burn.

So here is my pledge:
I will make an effort to update my blog at least once a week, for more than just two weeks.

What I'm working on:
-Getting together a new website, the college one I realize is rather gloomy
-Editing photographs of two different family portraits for side jobs
-Posting photographs from the summer!
-Editing the photographs from the church apple dumplin day

Success...

Well the One-A-Days did not work out as planned. I think the reason that it didn't work out was due to the fact that I was extremely busy with the studio I work for and shooting my own stuff on the side. So if you think about it I was not succeeding at my blog due to me succeeding at other assignments. I am changing the other site to just be photos that I take in my everyday life, but at a pace that I can keep up with instead of one a day.
