Forgive me for my absence

Well let's see where to start?

The studio that I use to work for has fallen on hard times and had to let go of their only two employees which was very heartbreaking. I wish nothing but the best for them and hope they are back on their feet very soon!

So I started a new job a couple months ago and it has absolutely nothing to do with photography. At first I was a little hesitant but I have made a lot of new friends and have a more stable schedule so I have time on the weekend to get my own thing going here!

Right now I'm editing some photographs from recent shoots and once I get those finished I will post them here. So back to work!!

A little something from Easter.... (personal photographs)

So I'm not going to apologize for not updating you sooner. First off I do that every time I come on here and well I'm sure it's getting old and secondly I'm sure that no one expects me to keep up on this blog every day... Some day when my full time job is running my own photography studio then maybe I shall have a new post everyday and at the very least once a week. So what have I been up to? Well I have some Easter photographs to share from awhile back and I'm currently working on some Holy Communion images as well (they won't be up for a bit though, sorry!). So without further ado here are my family photos :o)

Worky Work Busy Bee!!! The fast moving business world.

Dear Blog,

I am so very sorry I have been out of communication with you. Please understand that this is abosolutely not personal and I am still one of your greatest friends!!

Your B.F.F.,
-Karen

I just had to take a moment to appologize to my blog, wouldn't want it to hold a grudge. ;-) Okay so things have been like a tornado around here! At the studio we are currently working on taking the sports photographs of teams and their action shots of them playing. This is probably one of my favorite things to do because you get a little more freedom to be creative and you get to compose the shots as you like, not to mention you get to be outside! But don't let that sunshine fool you it is not summer yet.

So besides working at the studio during my "free time" I have completed the new site! Dun dun dun duuuuuuuuuuunnnn! And I am not one to boast but I happen to love the new set up and all around feeling of the site. Next step for my personal photography business, work on branding!

Working on my new website for www.KGBauman.com !

I know what you're thinking... "Karen, haven't you been promising that you will have a new website for a long time now?" This answer is... yes, sadly I have been saying this for quite some time.

But guess what? No not chicken but. I have purchased a website template from the wonderful people at www.BluDomain.com (for the record a GREAT site for the HTML impaired) and I am confident that I will have my new site up and running before the end of March. I may even have it up by the end of next week!

So for all of you out there who want to see the old site I made in college, which is really opposite of the new direction I am going in, then you better get there fast cause this train is moving at the speed of a jet! I am so very excited!!!

Daily tasks in a photography studio - Man I dislike ironing!

So here is a glimpse of a behind the scenes task that I had to do... This is a photo of me ironing a 10 foot by 20 foot white backdrop so it can be used at a prom this weekend and not have the straight-out-of-the-package creases. You never quit realize how big 10 ft by 20 ft is until you have to iron it. No one ever said photography was all glam and good times...

Holy Thundersnow Batman!!

So last night while watching a show with my husband I witnessed an amazing thing... We saw lightning during a snow storm, which I didn't even know was possible. Amazing. Well to commemorate this incredible happening I am posting some winter big storm photographs from last year. I haven't taken any photographs this year since I've been busy shoveling... wink.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Knowledge.

I'm pretty excited about the upcoming month. My new lens should be arriving soon so I'll be taking some photographs with it and post them. Also, I shall soon be getting my new website up and running (I know it's about time!!). So in my spare time (ha ha) I've been keeping busy with trying to learn more about marketing. Here's just some proof of me getting my learning on! Until next time!!

Soulographer.com Giveaway!!

So as I am scanning Facebook, like many of us do everyday (including my parents now, yikes!), I came across some new Pages to like. I'll go into detail later in the blog on the two new pages I like but for now I'll skip to the chase since many of us (myself included) can have very small attention spans. The website Soulographer.com is giving away many great prizes and I REALLY would love the posing guide, The Workshop Workbook which I would absolutely love to get since I cannot afford it, Florabella Collection, or Kelly Rigdell Logo see all prizes here. This is just really cool. I love that all these different vendors got together and are giving away products. I mean it is a smart way in terms of marketing to get people to look at your products who probably wouldn't have looked at otherwise but I just love when people give back to others. When you break it down it's really people helping people. Well let's just all keep our fingers crossed that I will be blessed enough to win ANY prize, but if we have to hope for anything let's hope for the Workshop Workbook!!

So about the websites that I have become great fans of:

The first one is Florabella Collections. They sell actions, elements, and just about anything you would need to make your images get to that next level! They have one of the prizes and probably everyone hoping they win it!

The second being the page Work of Heart Photography. This is a photographer named Skye Hardwick-Edmonds from California in the Los Angeles area. Well now that I have her bio out of the way let me rave a bit... She has some a wonderful way of creating a child's portrait and making it not only a photograph a parent would want but also an art piece. The color palettes she uses, the retouching on the images, the expressions, everything is just spot on. She not only creates beautiful portraits but amazing works of art. Let's just say if there was a Vogue:Children her images would grace the pages. Okay enough, you all are going to think I'm a brown noser...

Well check out their websites and give them a Like on Facebook if you feel the same way.
